Singing for Joy

I have always believed that music (and particularly singing) has a unique power to move, thrill, calm and heal both the singer and audience in equal measure. In today's troubled world, more than ever, people are feeling anxious, lost and unseated by the sheer scale and pace of change. I think we need an antidote and I can't think of anything more enjoyable than singing in a relaxed and friendly environment. No judging, no pressure, just your safe space to learn.

"Singing for Joy" encapsulates what I believe music should be all about. Whoever you are and whatever your reasons for wanting to sing, the universal benefit is the joy to be gained from the experience. Whether you are the new Pavarotti or just singing in the shower, or the latest Whitney Houston or learning your first notes, singing can and should be fun and enjoyable! This is how I approach every teaching or coaching session and I find it's a great way of getting the best out of people, regardless of experience level or aspiration.
Music is an incredible thing. Studies have shown that an early music education can stimulate greater physical development in the brains of children and have a positive impact on success in later life. Music also has wonderful healing properties and has been used successfully to treat various mental disorders, including Alzheimer's, where simply listening to a piece of music can trigger a positive memory and reaction in the patient. Truly amazing.
